The TENMAT FF130E Recessed Light Draft Stop Cover is a fire resistant enclosure that was specifically designed to protect your light fixture from insulation in the attic and to stop unwanted airleakage through your recessed light.
The FF130E has been tested in accordance with UL1598 for usage with IC and Non-IC rated recessed lights (See Installation Instructions for maximum lamp wattage and types).
Most recessed lights are not compatible with insulation and oftentimes start cycling on/off after they have been buried with cellulose, foam, fiberglass, etc. The lights’ malfunction is a concern and a safety hazard. Pushing the insulation away is not an effective solution since it creates air passages in the building envelope and wastes energy.
According to the Department of Energy, recessed lights account for 50% of the total thermal losses of a ceiling. Due to the improved airtightness and insulation, TENMAT users experience significant energy savings.

The newly added flange on the bottom of the enclosure provides an improved seal and enhanced draftstopping capabilities. The slightly oval design allows the barrier to fit smoothly in a 16″ on-center joist space, while its dome shape ensures that insulation is kept away from the light, preventing combustible materials, such as blown-in cellulose, to come in contact with the hot light.
If working in a 1 or 2 hour fire rated ceiling assembly, you CANNOT use this product and must use a fire rated solution, such as TENMAT Fire Rated Light Covers.
